Ways to help prepare
your child for childcare
|
|
|
| |
- Take the child
to visit the daycare before the first day
- Arrange for
the child to meet the teacher in advance
- Read stories
to your child about starting daycare
- Allow extra
time the first few days to linger before saying good-bye
- Start attendence
slowly, maybe only mornings for the first week
- Allow the child
to take a security object such as a favorite toy or blankie
- Tell your child
what to expect
- Answer any questions or concerns they may have
- Clearly explain
when you will return for them
- Establish a
routine
- Communicate
with teachers about how everyone can ease the transition
